We decided to purchase this telescope on sale for the holidays as a nice entry-level telelscope for our children. I have some astronomical experience and knew not to expect anything spectacular for this sort of entry-level item; all I wanted was something that could hold level, track manually, and let the kids explore planets and the moon. After assembling this telescope, I knew this was not going to happen. The tripod is so flimsy that it barely holds itself steady; the adjusting knobs for precise adjustments was laughable- and the inability of the scope to even hold itself steady when targeting anything smaller than, perhaps, the horizon, was terrible. The LED red-dot targeting aim-sight is a nice idea; but in execution the thing is impossible to 'zero' to the telescope. You line your red-dot on the celestral object you want to view, and the actual scope is not even remotely close. I spent 20 minutes playing around trying to adjust this, and between the wobbly and imprecise tripod and the pathetically unsensitive adjustment knobs, it was a total waste of time. We will return this junk and spend more money to get a better quality investment. So utterly cheap and terribly built, Celestron should be ashamed to put their name on it. In fact, this probably is a deal-breaker for me to buy from Celestron just on principle...
